The New York Audio Show – November 4-6

The Chester Group is presenting the New York Audio Show this coming weekend at the Park Lane Hotel. Unfortunately, AIX Records is unable to participate in what will undoubtedly be the best audio show on the east coast. The Waldrep household is about to receive a bunch of family from the Midwest and the timing just couldn’t be managed. But I’ve always enjoyed being part of the New York event. I’ve never done a demo room at the New York Show — it’s just been me and my table of discs and a small demo setup — but I am proud to know that a number of vendors use my recordings to show off their new gear. And I’ve enjoyed being part of a seminar or holding my own session on high-resolution audio.

The number of companies exhibiting at the show this year exceeds 120 and includes Mytek, Mark Levinson, Oppo, and Sony. There will be new speakers, components, and a special headphone area for those looking for the latest in personal high-end audio. As usual, you’ll be able to shop for recordings, specialized cables, tweaks, accessories, and vinyl LPs in the marketplace (near the registration area). I remember meeting a lot of old friends and meeting new audio enthusiasts at last year’s show.

This year the show will be located back in the city, which I think makes it easier and more convenient. The venue is the Park Lane Hotel right on Central Park. The address is 36 Central Park South, New York, New York 10019. The show starts on Friday at 1 pm and ends at 7 pm. On Saturday, you can stop by from 10-6 and Sunday 10-5. The costs are:

One Day Visitor Pass

$23.00 EARLY BIRD TICKET PRICE +$3 booking fee
$30.00 DOOR PRICE

Two Day Visitor Pass

$35.00 EARLY BIRD TICKET PRICE +$3 booking fee
$45.00 DOOR PRICE

Three Day Visitor Pass

$45.00 EARLY BIRD TICKET PRICE + $3 booking fee
$55.00 DOOR PRICE

I’m sorry that I won’t be able to show off the AIX Records catalog this year, but please stop by the show and let me know what you heard or saw the impressed you. Cheers, Mark
