In fact, I ran out of several more titles and am getting low on the HD-Audio 2013 Sampler. It was another long day, but with continuous traffic at the table, it’s very hard to get out and check out the other rooms at the show. I guess that’s a good problem.

I enjoy making my sales pitch at trade shows. Yes, I pretty much say the same things whenever someone I don’t recognize approaches the table. I’ll usually ask if they’ve heard of my little audiophiles label followed by “Do you have a Blu-ray player?” Most people answer that they do. I continue with a listing of the discs features etc. Lest attendees think the sampler discs are free giveaways, I let them know that the cost of the disc is $20 OR that it’s FREE with any purchase…if they buy ANY disc on the table they get the 2013 HD-Audio sampler included with their purchase. That’s a great incentive, right? Then I tell them the prices of the various types of discs starting with the ones in the Super Jewel Box ‘Plus” size, which do not have any video on them. I placed them on the end of the table as a group with the DVD-Audio/Video disc in the middle and my Blu-ray titles sit next to the playback system (my Oppo BDP-83, monitor and Benchmark DAC2). The cheapest discs are only $20.

That’s when the light goes off. Some potential customers for the HD-Audio sampler realize that they can get two discs for the price of one. What a bargain. But, I’m constantly amazed that there are surprising number of folks that just want the sampler. They pull a $20 bill from their wallet, take the sampler and they’re off. Curious.

I particularly enjoy the times when an appreciative former customer comes to the table as I’m doing my sales pitch and literally takes over the interaction. These enthusiastic AIX fans charge into an energetic testimonials about how “amazing” and “incredible” the discs sound. They overwhelm the discussion and might seem to be paid associates of mine to a suspicious potential new customer. This happened yesterday a couple of times. Gil stepped up and searched for “The Brand New Opry Volume I” discs. He’d heard the tune “Lowlands” (it’s a favorite tune of time and part of the iTrax Sprint Ultra HD-Audio Sampler) and had to purchase it. The new customer was very entertained and said, “Oh, I get it…this is the good cop, bad cop routine, right?” We all laughed. I sold a copy of BNO and a sampler. It never fails when an enthusiastic existing customer assists in making my pitch. Maybe I SHOULD hire an assistant?

I did get upstairs for a brief few minutes to hear a young Danish musician Ida Riegels perform on the third floor. Her associate had mentioned her as a possible AIX Records artist and introduced me to her the day before. She is a classical and baroque concert soloist on cello, recorder, and piano from Denmark. A conservatory graduate of The Royal Danish Academy of Music. I enjoyed the brief time that I heard her…in spite of the competing sound of a tenor sax emanating from an adjacent room.

Late in the day, I gave another presentation to a group of about 10 individuals including the son of the founder and owner of MIT Cables. He’s a guitarist and just happened to come to the room to retrieve a long HDMI cable when I engaged him regarding recording etc. It was a very engaging discussion for an hour. I tried my best to end on a positive note…but I wasn’t actually too optimistic about the chances for Pono or high-resolution music in general.

Got to run.

The second day of the California Audio Show was busier than the first day but commerce at the AIX Records

[23,45
657,50,40,257,172,57,242,697,197,672,708,696,675,17,1032,246,607,70,640,26,639,651,42,298,251,645,638,637,227,643,606,169,276,59,664,549,347,663,659,673,658,660,661
post-3383","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-audio_shows","category-dr_aixs_posts","tag-advanced-resolution","tag-aix-records","tag-analog-vs-digital","tag-astell-kern","tag-audio-resolution","tag-audio-specifications","tag-audiophile-mastering","tag-california-audio-show-2014","tag-capitol-audiofest","tag-capitol-audiofest-2014","tag-cas-report","tag-cas5","tag-chord","tag-dsd","tag-dvd_audio","tag-geek","tag-harman-kardon","tag-hd-downloads","tag-hd-music","tag-hd-audio","tag-hi-res-audio","tag-hi-res-audio-logo","tag-high-resolution-audio","tag-high-res-music","tag-high-resolution","tag-high-resolution-audio-experience","tag-hires-audio","tag-hires-music","tag-hra","tag-hra-listening-experience","tag-htc-m8","tag-mark-waldrep","tag-mastering","tag-music","tag-music-and-emotion","tag-scott-wilkinson","tag-spectragram","tag-the-distortion-of-sound","tag-uhd-audio","tag-ultra-hd","tag-ultra-hd-audio","tag-ultra-high-definition-audio","tag-ultra-high-resolution-audio
["GET
