As many of you already know, I’m headed to Las Vegas to be part of the new High-Resolution Audio TechZone promotion. <\/p>\n
iTrax and AIX Records will have a 10 x 10 booth in the Bellini Room of the Venetian Hotel…and I will be contributing to a couple of sessions on high-resolution audio downloads and the production process. However, unlike all of the other shows that I’ve participated in over the past year…companies are not allowed to sell anything at the show. So the price tag is hefty…just the cost of the booth is over $6K. One of my regular readers at RealHD-Audio.com wrote and offered to contribute to the effort and suggested that I do small scale crowd sourcing program through my newsletter and blog. It seemed worth a try.<\/p>\n
I believe they call this crowd sourcing and it seemed to work beyond anyone’s expectations for the folks at Light Harmonic in pre-selling their “Geek” USB DAC and headphone amp. A device that no one had ever heard managed to raise over $300,000! While I can’t offer a piece of hardware…I can supply the kind of content that will make a Geek worth the purchase price. After all if you play your standard definition catalog, are you really going to get any benefit? Maybe the headphone amplifier is really great…but I haven’t heard it.<\/p>\n
Crowd sourcing is usually done through site like Kickstarter or IndieGoGo. However, in the interest of time, I’m going to run this campaign directly. So here’s the rewards program. For contributions of $100, I’ll give you a 25% discount on discs or downloads, $250 gets you a 35% discount and $500 earns a 50% discount. For a contribution of $1000, I will send you a copy of every disc in our current catalog…that’s about 80 titles…valued at over $2000!
