HiFi Summit Podcast- Today

Audio trade shows have ceased operations due to the pandemic. No more AXPONA, T.H.E. Show, or Capitol Audio Fest until further notice. But that doesn’t mean they’ve opted out completely from holding “online” shows of one kind or another. I know AXPONA has held some online events although I admit that I haven’t participated.

I will be involved in this afternoon’s podcast produced by the HiFi Summit folks. I was contacted a few months ago about having a virtual presence at their event. It happens this coming weekend — June 26th through 30th. You can visit the website and get all of the details by clicking https://thehifisummit.com.

My experience thus far has been favorable. They seem well organized and committed to putting on a great event. And they invited me to present a seminar on a topic of my choice. Given that the HD-Audio Challenge is coming to a close, I thought I would talk about the results of my study, talk about its origins, processes, and talk about the current state of affairs in HD-Audio. The seminar is titled, “The Myth of Hi-Res Audio: A Perception Survey.” For those interested in participating in the survey, there is still time.

The HiFi Summit Podcast happens on June 22nd at 4 pm.

So I was all set to deliver the seminar on Saturday, June 27th at 2 pm but learned very recently that I have to undergo a medical procedure early Friday morning. Unfortunately, the surgery will make it impossible to deliver the seminar as planned but doing the podcast — which will be recorded and available after the fact — will fill the slot. I apologize but late notice but it’s my only option.

Please stop by and listen to this afternoons podcast. It should be fun.

Additionally, he launched the first High Definition Music Download site in 2007 called iTrax.com. A frequency speaker at audio events, author of numerous articles, Dr. Waldrep is currently writing a book on the production and reproduction of high-end music called, "High-End Audio: A Practical Guide to Production and Playback". The book should be completed in the fall of 2013.

Thanks, Mark, for saving me $5,000. I just discovered you through the Hi-Fi Summit podcast and you opened my eyes/ears so much that I’ve canceled my plan to buy NAD’s M33 streamer preamp.

Instead I’m devoting my budget to surround sound music. I’m re-configuring my 2-channel system to 5.1 and just ordered a bunch of multichannel SACDs. I’m listening to your sampler as I type and it’s fantastic! Definitely the way to go.
